I started doing these first thing in the morning after my first yoga class. I really enjoyed how much concentration was needed to hold and then proceed through the poses of yoga. I’ve read a lot of articles that say you should take time out each day to do some form of meditation and that you should exercise first thing in the morning. So I counted this as both. 🙂
As I got more comfortable with these poses, I added in a few from yoga class like child, downward dog, and caterpillar to try to flow into each pose.
I suggest trying these out or going to a yoga class regularly if that is an option. It really is a great workout and the core muscles (not to mention the toning of all the others) get worked in a whole new way. It’s also a very peaceful way to start (or end) your day.
