Beets!

Beets are a great source of nutrition. They’re rich in folate, potassium, vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants, and nitrates. The active ingredient in beet juice is an antioxidant called betanin. One cup of raw beet greens may contain over 275 micrograms of lutein!

One cup of raw beets has 35 calories and 8 grams of carbohydrates. A cup of beet juice is usually around 100 calories and 25 grams of carbohydrates because of added sugar.

Lots of fruits and vegetables are rich sources of antioxidants but not necessarily good sources of nitrates. In addition to beets, other good sources of dietary nitrates include spinach, radishes, lettuce, celery, and Chinese cabbage.

Beets are said to increase production of human sex hormones, cleanse the body, may aid in the prevention of certain types of cancer,  is a mood booster, and great energy source.

Sunrise Juice (my favorite so far)
This recipe makes 2 servings.
Ingredients:
8 carrots
4 oranges
2 beets
Directions:
Rinse all ingredients and cut to size for your
juicer. Add ingredients to juicer. Enjoy

Un-Beet-able
This recipe makes 2 servings.
Ingredients:
2 apples
2 beets
6 carrots
2”/5 cm. piece ginger
3 handfuls leafy greens (kale, spinach,
Swiss chard etc.)
Directions:
Rinse all ingredients and cut to size for your
juicer. Add ingredients to juicer. Enjoy!

Sporty Spice
This recipe makes 2 servings.
Ingredients:
4 beets
2 carrots
6 stalks celery
1 lemon (peeled)
2 oranges (peeled)
2 handfuls basil leaves
Directions:
Rinse all ingredients and cut to size for your
juicer. Add ingredients to juicer. Enjoy!

Prep your fruits and veggies
Wash thoroghly
Peel beets (removes the earthy taste) and cut in half lengthwise-keep the greens on
Core apples
Peel citrus, leaving as much of the white (pith) in tact as possible
