Buttermilk

I have forgone many recipes because they called for buttermilk. The other day I really wanted a particular recipe (chocolate pumpkin bread!)… so I decided there had to be a way to make “buttermilk” in order to enjoy all those recipes.

Turns out making buttermilk is actually really easy. Who knew? (Ok, not me.)

The recipe from Thrifty Jinxy calls for milk and vinegar or lemon juice.

So I used almond milk and lemon juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
  • Fill to 1 cup with “milk”

Put 1 Tbsp lemon juice into measuring cup. Add milk until it reaches 1 cup. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes.

And that’s how easy it is!
